Slovakia is nestled in the heart of Europe. It is surrounded by Poland, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, and Ukraine.

Geography

Slovakia is full of many different unique geographic features. One of the most notable ones are its massive caves. There are over 6000 caves throughout the country that are full of running rivers, ice formations and stalactites. Most of them are unexplored. Another feature Slovakia is famous for are the Carpathian mountains. The Carpathian Mountain range which spans multiple countries, makes up the far from flat terrain of Slovakia. Most of the water from these mountains drains into the Danube River that runs through Bratislava.

Plants and Animals

While most of Slovakia's forests have been cut down, two fifths of the country is still wooded. Most of these trees are in the higher more mountianous regions. They consist of Spruce and Pine at making up the tree-tops with shrubs and alpine grasses along the floor. Slovakia is also home to many different kinds of animals, including wolves, bears, otters, moose, lynx, and much much more.
